Free State Stars will make their debut in the Maize Cup in 2017 and will be wanting to make a strong impression in the annual preseason competition.
Stars had a disappointing 2016/17 season which ended with them barely avoiding the relegation playoffs and parting ways with coach Serame Letsoaka. Ea Lla Koto have struggled to find consistency in recent years and will need to make a major improvement in 2017/18 if they are to avoid another challenging campaign.
The club has dispensed with many players heading into the new season, clearing the way for fresh faces in the hope that they will spark a rise up the table.
Stars have been one of the most prominent promoters of youth players to their first team in recent times and you can expect them to once again keep the graduates coming through the ranks, while also adding some more experienced players to the mix in an effort to find a winning combination.
The first test of their readiness for the challenge which lies ahead in the 2017/18 season will come in the Maize Cup.
