Free State Stars are out to secure their first 2018 Bokone Bophirima Maize Cup title as they meet Chippa United in the second semi-final on Saturday afternoon.

The match is scheduled to get underway at 12:00 (CAT).

Ea Lla Koto will be motivated heading into this encounter after their successful 2017/18 Premier Soccer League season.

Coach Luc Eymael led the Bethlehem side to a decent finish in the league as well as lifting the Nedbank Cup.

Following that magnificent run they managed to secure a spot in the CAF Confederation Cup, but will want to taste glory in Orkney on Saturday.

The Belgian manager will also want to unveil his new players in the form of striker Eleazar Rodgers, Tshepo Tema and Ricardo Ndiki among others.

Just last season, the two Absa Premiership giants met on three occasions. Stars bagged a single win in the league and one in the Ke Yona competition whist the other one ended in a win in for Dan Malesela’s troops.

A look at the Port Elizabeth-based side, United are gunning for glory ahead of the new 2018/19 PSL season as they look to start on a positive note.

“Yes, I believe so [Chippa can win trophies],” said new defender Thabo Nthethe.

“With the players that are there I believe we can do it.

"The players need to believe they can win trophies. As much as we can say Chippa is smaller team than other teams, what matters is what we do on the field.

"As long as we apply ourselves and work hard, then I think we can get something.”

The Chilli Boys will be making their debut at the pre-season tournament and hands Malesela the opportunity to measure their progress.

Chippa have signed players such as Daine Klate, Jabulani Shongwe, Botswana duo Thatoyaone Kgamanyane and Kabelo Seakanyeng amongst others.
