Free State Stars coach Luc Eymael remains contracted to the club despite reports linking him with Kaizer Chiefs.

The Belgian manager will lead his troops against Chippa United at the Maize Cup on Saturday in the second semi-final at the James Motlatsi Stadium.

According to the coach’s agent, Mike Makaab of ProSport International, he confirmed that the head coach remains committed to Stars despite interest from elsewhere in the Premier Soccer League.

Eymael recently guided Ea Lla Koto to Nedbank Cup glory last season, thus prompting interest from a number of Absa premiership clubs.

Amakhosi and SuperSport United were teams reportedly chasing his signature, but Makaab said the coach is happy in Bethlehem.

Makaab confirmed that he was previously in talks with both the Amakhosi and Amatsatsantsa A Pitori, but nothing materialised.

“Yes, that is true, I have engaged with both parties and at some stage, there was a definite interest in Luc and the fact that it hasn’t transpired is fine because Luc is a professional coach,” Makaab told Soccer Laduma.

“He has given his commitment to Free State Stars and is excited about the season ahead.”

Stars will face the Chilli Boys on Saturday at 12:00 (CAT) and the winner will face Chiefs or Buya Msuthu in the final at the same venue.
