Kabelo Mahlasela is looking to impress the Kaizer Chiefs fans when he takes part in the Maize Cup on Saturday, July 14.
The 27-year-old joined the Amkahosi in the January transfer window, but did not take part in the remainder of the 2017/18 season after injuring his knee in his first training session with the club which saw him require surgery.
Now the attacking midfielder is back and ready for action, and hoping to star for the Soweto giants when they take on ABC Motsepe league side Buya Msuthu in the first semifinal of the Maize Cup.
"It was difficult (following my knee injury," Mhalasela tells the club's website.
"I wanted to show everybody what I could do. Instead, I was out for the rest of the season.
"It’s great to be back in full training with the guys and I am looking forward to the Maize Cup.
"I will be ready and give it my best, if I am given an opportunity to play in our game against Buya Msuthu.
"I want to repay the Kaizer Chiefs supporters and the club’s management for all the support they have given me over the last few months.
“It was hard, but everybody stood behind me, including our supporters whose backing was such a moral boost. It’s now up to me to repay all those people with my performances on the field."
