After assessing Gabonese striker Johan Lenguoalama, Free State Stars have decided against signing the forward.

According to coach Luc Eymael, the player was not good enough for their requirements and have released him to go back to Gabon.

Stars will test their readiness for the new 2018/19 Premier Soccer League season when they participate at the Maize Cup this weekend at James Motlatsi Stadium.

Lenguoalama spent a week training with the reigning Nedbank Cup champions, but was deemed not good enough by the Belgian coach and his technical team.

“We had him for a full week and we assessed him in camp. He’s flying back to Gabon. He was not good enough,” confirmed Eymael told Soccer Laduma.

However, the Belgian mentor confirmed that the Bethlehem-based club has completed signing Maboke Matlakala, Tshepo Tema, Ricardo Ndiki, Bongani Mbuli, Thabo Makhele and Mpho Maruping.

During the Maize Cup, Ea Lla Koto are set to play against Chippa United in the second semi-final on Saturday at 12:00 (CAT).

Should they defeat the Chilli Boys, Stars will set up a date against defending champions Kaizer Chiefs or Buya Msuthu in the final at 16:00 (CAT).
