Kaizer Chiefs midfielder Siphiwe Tshabalala says their pre-season is going smooth so far and they hope to do well in the 2017 Bokone Bophirima Maize Cup.
Amakhosi are set to participate in this year's tournament staged in Orkney, North West province where they will meet Botswana giants Township Rollers.
Steve Komphela's men will feature in the second semi-final scheduled to be played at 12:00 on Saturday, July 15 at James Motlatsi Stadium in Orkney.
'Shabba' was speaking after conducting their coaching clinics with school children from the surrounding areas as they easily recognised the former Bafana Bafana international.
“Look, the kids look up to me as their role model and that feels great, and humbling to see their smiles and love – this is genuine love,” said Tshabalala.
“As their role models, our responsibility is to return the love we receive and we had fun in our exercises, and I am glad they responded to our lessons.
“To be honest, I did not expect them to be matured. They responded well and we had an easy task in teaching them because they know the basics.
“Yes, it is pre-season, but it is an important game for us which will give us an idea how far we have gone with our preparations.
"We are happy to be here and play in the Maize Cup and our mission is to do well on Saturday.
“We need to show our supporters the love and pass a message that football can unite people - we will give it our best and fight to lift this one.”
